PeacePeace must be first withinDeep in the tissues of our bodies Deep in trust That we are real and present to this moment Self-defining, self-sustaining And Peace permeates every pore Oozes through every thought Until war becomes a symbol in a story Like old Greek gods and Christian crusaders With their smothering armor And their clumsy heavy weaponry, Forgiven at last for the pain And destruction they caused We must make Peace with Our every ache and pain and hurtful memory Forgiving ourselves deeply for any pain And destruction we have been a part of And Peace must be in every desire Every new scene we envision participating in Until we are deeply at Peace with who we are And who all those around us are At peace with every act and thought and breath |
